Mexico beat Costa Rica in the opener of the COCABA Championship for Women in San Salvador. Mexico started the campaign with an 80:52 win.
Mexico won the first period 17-10 and also scored 17 points in the second frame for 34:22 advantage at the halftime. Mexico won the third quarter 24-15 and achieved 58:37 lead after thirty minutes of the game. Mexico finished the game with 22-15 rally at the end of the game for the final result.
Abril Garcia (188-F/C-80, college: ORU) top-scored for the winners with 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Brisa Silva (170-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) netted 14. MORALES CASTRO collected 10 points and 11 rebounds, whilst BIBBS MORENO had 8. VARGAS PEREZ answered with 11 points in a loss, whilst GALVEZ MORALES had 10. MALAVASSI ALVAREZ nailed 9 and AGUILAR VILLALOBOS delivered 6.
El Salvador- Honduras 82:55
El Salvador outscore Honduras at the home court in the start of the COCABA Championship for Women. The hosts of the competition posted an 82:55 win in their opener.
El Salvador managed to win all the quarters of the game. They started with a 15-14 run and then added 17-10 rally in the second frame. El Salvador produced later a 18-16 run and erupted with a 32-15 surge in the last stanza.
CALDERON APARICIO top-scored for the winners with 16 points and SOSA QUINTANILLA notched 15. ESCOBAR MORAN collected 14 points and 13 rebounds, whilst HELENA LEIVA poured in 8. MARTINEZ BENEDITH ended up with 21 points and 15 rebounds in defeat and JACKSON GARBOTT scored 13. GRENALD JACKSON and BUELTO HARRY brought 5 points each in a loss.
Tomorrow Honduras will take on Mexico, while El Salvador will play against Costa Rica.
