Guatemala edged Panama 64-55 in Central American Championship opener. It was Panama to take a 15-10 lead as they dominated the first half. Guatemala meanwhile replied with a 15-14 run in the third quarter and closed the game with a final 23-10 surge.
Natalie Larranaga (175-G-2002) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Sonia Vasquez (182-F-1983) delivered 19. Ashley Reid (168-G, college: Louisiana Tech) replied with 18 points in a loss and Milan Tuttle (170-G-2003) produced 12.
