Panama held off Guatemala to gain the first win in Group B. Panama piled up a 40-26 halftime advantage and cruised to the win in the second half. Vivian Grenald (183-PF-2009) delivered 17 points for Panama. Nathaly Pinelo (167-PG-1999) answered with 14 points for Guatemala. Honduras - Costa Rica 66-64 Honduras nipped Costa Rica for the first win in Group A. Costa Rica led by as many as 5 points at halftime 34-29. But Honduras went on a 23-17 run in the third term to spur ahead. They protected the lead throughout the fourth period and rallied to the win. Ankara Reichle (171-SF-2000) came up with 26 points to pace the winners. Maria Ramirez (183-C-2007) responded with 18 points for Costa Rica. Nicaragua - El Salvador 70-82 El Salvador outgunned Nicaragua to stay undefeated in Group A. El Salvador recorded a 45-41 halftime lead. They followed with a 22-12 rally in the third period to clear off for good. Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) notched 21 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Kiyomi McMiller (173-G-2006) replied with 18 points for Nicaragua. |
