Arabe de Valp. - Luis Matte 61-51 No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Arabe de Valp. (5-3) beat 12th ranked Luis Matte (4-5) in Valparaiso 61-51 on Saturday. Arabe de Valp. forced 19 Luis Matte turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian Pedro Soares (200-1991) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Center Carlos Ahuile (193-1999) accounted for 6 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side. Ronald Reyes (-1999) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Venezuelan Luis Adrian (-1998) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Luis Matte in the defeat. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sportiva Italiana. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Liceo PN. Brisas lost their third game in a row. The former international center Carlos Aranda (200-1992) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). At the losing side forward Marcelo Villagran (184-1988) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and center Marko Castro (192-1988) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osorno have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Arabe de Valp. Aleman at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Osorno will play against league's leader Liceo PN in Temuco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aleman will play against Espanol O. (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
