LNB 2 Round 7: Liceo PN keep a leadership position

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Liceo PN as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Liceo PN defeated 11th ranked Liceo Curico in Temuco 91-81. Liceo PN made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Sebastian Riquelme (188-1995) answered with 21 points and 4 assists for Liceo Curico. Liceo PN have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sportiva Italiana. Liceo Curico lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. Liceo Curico will play next round against Tomas L. trying to get back on the winning streak. Liceo PN will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Osorno at home.
Another interesting game for Osorno (5-3) which played in Puerto Varas against 7th ranked Aleman (4-4). Eighth ranked Osorno had an easy win 83-68. It was a great evening for American center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Carlos Aranda helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). At the losing side forward Marcelo Villagran (184-1988) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osorno have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Arabe de Valp. Aleman at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Osorno will play against league's leader Liceo PN in Temuco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aleman will play against Espanol O. (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Municipal C. is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to thirteenth ranked Tomas L. (2-6) 75-62 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Marcelo Martinez who led the winners and scored 25 points. Andres Martinez came up with 24 points for Municipal C. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tomas L. maintains thirteenth place with 2-6 record. Municipal C. lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Tomas L. will meet higher ranked Liceo Curico (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Municipal C. will play against Truenos in Talca and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Luis Matte was beaten by Arabe de Valp. on the road 61-51. Winless Stadio Italiano lost to Sergio Ceppi on its own court 76-82. Sportiva Italiana outscored Brisas in Valparaiso 100-47. Luis Matte managed to beat Arabe de Valp. at home 76-71.

Arabe de Valp. - Luis Matte 61-51

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Arabe de Valp. (5-3) beat 12th ranked Luis Matte (4-5) in Valparaiso 61-51 on Saturday. Arabe de Valp. forced 19 Luis Matte turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian Pedro Soares (200-1991) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 18 rebounds. Center Carlos Ahuile (193-1999) accounted for 6 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side. Ronald Reyes (-1999) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Venezuelan Luis Adrian (-1998) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Luis Matte in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Arabe de Valp. maintains fifth place with 5-3 record, which they share with Osorno. Luis Matte lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Sportiva Italiana looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Brisas' players. It was an exceptional evening for Gaspar Hernandez (-1999) who led the winners and scored 22 points. Guard Matias Lubiano (-1999) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Sportiva Italiana players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sportiva Italiana. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Liceo PN. Brisas lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth place with eight games lost. Sportiva Italiana will meet at home Boston College (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Brisas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Sergio Ceppi.
