Boston College - Sergio Ceppi 68-72 There was no surprise in Santiago where 10th ranked Boston College (4-5) was defeated by seventh ranked Sergio Ceppi (6-3) 72-68 on Saturday. Sergio Ceppi made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The former international Julius Holt (187-1985) stepped up and scored 30 points for the winners and Boris Guerra (-1987) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Rodrigo Rojas (-1997) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Marcelo Lopez (191-1991) scored 19 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sergio Ceppi. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Truenos. Loser Boston College keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Liceo Curico. Sergio Ceppi will meet at home league's leader Sportiva Italiana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boston College will play against Luis Matte (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Liceo Curico had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Sergio Chialva (-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Ricardo Gomez (176-1993) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Argentinian guard Marcelo Martinez (187-1996) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and Hans Adrian (-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tomas L.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Truenos. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sergio Ceppi. Loser Tomas L. keeps the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Truenos will meet Aleman (#9) in the next round. Power forward Sascha Frings (202-1986) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and guard Felipe Oyarzun (187-1989) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Ronald Reyes (-1999) with 7 points and 4 assists and Venezuelan Luis Adrian (-1998) scored 8 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Brisas maintains fifteenth place with 2-9 record. Loser Luis Matte keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Brisas will meet higher ranked Arabe de Valp. (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Luis Matte will play against Boston College (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. They outrebounded Manquehue 47-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Manquehue helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sportiva Italiana (9-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Manquehue at the other side keeps the third place with one game lost. Manquehue will play next round against Stadio Italiano trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago - Stadio Italiano. Sportiva Italiana will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Sergio Ceppi in Santiago.
