Luis Matte - Sergio Ceppi 63-65 Thirteenth-ranked Luis Matte (4-9) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Sergio Ceppi (9-3) on Saturday. The visitors from Santiago managed to secure only two-point victory 65-63. However their fans expected much easier game. Sergio Ceppi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Camilo Figueroa (-1995) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Gabriel Gonzalez (-2001) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Pedro Lopez (-1996) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and Ronald Reyes (-1999) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sergio Ceppi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-3 record. Luis Matte lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Stadio Italiano. Sergio Ceppi are looking forward to face Arabe de Valp. (#9) in Valparaiso in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Luis Matte will play on the road against Manquehue in Santiago and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series. Fifteenth ranked Brisas (3-10) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Arabe de Valp. (5-7) 73-70 on Saturday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Sascha Frings (202-1986) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. Venezuelan Cristhian Poleo (-1992) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Brisas players scored in double figures. The former international guard Eduardo Sepulveda (186-1986) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Brazilian Pedro Soares (200-1991) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Arabe de Valp.Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Brisas maintains fifteenth place with 3-10 record. Arabe de Valp. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Liceo PN players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Diego Fuentes (-1993) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and Jordan Flores (-2002) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Liceo PN moved-up to second place. Municipal C. at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Liceo PN will meet Tomas L. (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Municipal C. will play against Osorno and hope to win that game. Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Alessandro Morales (-1998) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Truenos players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Juan Carrasco (-1998) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and center Sergio Chialva (-1994) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Truenos. They moved-up to sixth place. Liceo Curico lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Truenos will meet at home higher ranked Espanol O. (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liceo Curico will play against Aleman (#10) in Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Osorno. They maintain fifth place with 8-4 record. Aleman lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Osorno will meet bottom-ranked Municipal C. (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aleman will play against Liceo Curico (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Boston College outrebounded Stadio Italiano 44-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Argentinian swingman Manuel Lambrisca (192-1997) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Rodrigo Rojas (-1997) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Venezuelan point guard Joseph Campos (175-1996, college: West LA) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Francisco Pena (187-1989) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Stadio Italiano players scored in double figures. Stadio Italiano's coach Galo Lara rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Boston College. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Manquehue. Stadio Italiano at the other side keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Luis Matte.
