LNB2 Round 13: Sportiva Italiana defeat Stadio Italiano in the game between Top 4 teams

An interesting game for Sportiva Italiana (11-0) which hosted in Valparaiso 4th placed Stadio Italiano (5-6). Leader Sportiva Italiana had an easy win 108-62. Sportiva Italiana dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Stadio Italiano's 32 and made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Sportiva Italiana forced 23 Stadio Italiano turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by Stadio Italiano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Gaspar Hernandez (-1999) contributed with 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international Ramiro Galvez (-1996) answered with 15 points for Stadio Italiano. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Sportiva Italiana have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Stadio Italiano at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Luis Matte and Municipal C.. Sportiva Italiana will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stadio Italiano will play against Luis Matte (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Truenos (6-5) which hosted in Talca 4th placed Municipal C. (5-6). Third ranked Truenos managed to get a 13-point victory 79-66. Forward Nick Morales (187-1985) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Alessandro Morales chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. At the losing side center Marko Castro (192-1988) responded with 21 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Truenos. They maintain third place with 6-5 record having five points less than leader Liceo PN, which they share with Arabe de Valp. Municipal C. at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Stadio Italiano and Luis Matte. Truenos will play against Tomas L. (#6) in San Fernando in the next round. Municipal C. will play at home against the league's second-placed Colo Colo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gaspar Hernandez nailed 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Ronald Reyes came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds for Luis Matte in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Sportiva Italiana. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Loser Luis Matte keeps the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Stadio Italiano and Municipal C.. Sportiva Italiana will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Luis Matte will play against Stadio Italiano (#5) in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Liceo Curico were smashed by Colo Colo on the road 93-73. Liceo PN destroyed Tomas L. on its own court 79-53. Boston College unfortunately lost to Arabe de Valp. in Valparaiso 61-69. Luis Matte rolled over Brisas at home 61-35. Truenos were defeated by Colo Colo on the opponent's court 69-78.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 22 points and 5 rebounds by Martin Gomez of Colo Colo.
