Team USA stayed untamed at the FIBA Americas tournament. They cruised past Brazil to clinch the top position in Group A. Wendell Carter (206-C-99) came up with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners. Team USA erupted for 36 points in the second frame to gain a 63:32 halftime lead. They never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory. Kevin Knox II (201-F-99) finished with 16 points, while Jalen Hill and Jordan Brown (206-C-99) added 14 points each for Team USA. Danilo Araujo (194-SG-99) responded with 24 points for Brazil. Yago Dos Santos (175-PG-99) had 12 points in the losing case.
Dominican Republic - Puerto Rico 71-66
Dominican Republic clinched a decisive victory over Puerto Rico and made it into the semifinal stage. Alanzo Frink (200-F-0) stepped up with 16 points to pace Dominican Republic to the second victory in Group A. They grabbed a 19:15 lead ten minutes into the game. Puerto Rico lived up to the challenge denying the deficit in the second period. They accounted for a 32:31 halftime advantage. But Dominican Republic stepped on the gas in the second half. They dropped 40 points after the big break and ensured a key victory. Miguel Diaz (192-G/F-99) finished with 13 points for the winners. Eric Ayala (193-F/G-99) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds for Puerto Rico. Jose Placer (185-G-0) chipped in 20 points in the loss.
Group B
Argentina - Canada 62-76
Canada registered the third consecutive victory in Bahia Blanca. They upset hosting Argentina to enter the semifinal stage undefeated. Simisola Shittu (205-G/F-0) paced well-balanced effort with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Canada got to a strong start. They rallied to a 25:16 advantage after ten minutes. Argentina narrowed the distance at 3-point mark at the interval 33:36. But Canada held Argentina to 29 points after the big break and marched to the victory. Danilo Djuricic (200-F-99) and Ignas Brazdeikis (198-G/F-99) posted 13 points each for Canada. Lautaro Lopez (188-G-99) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Argentina.
Mexico - Venezuela 88-70
Mexico earned the opening victory in Bahia Blanca. They toppled Venezuela for 1-2 record in Group B. Salvador Martinez (193-SF-99) delivered 15 points to lead the winners. Mexico established a 41:31 halftime lead. Mexico unleashed 35 points in the third quarter to open a 23-point lead. They never looked back cruising to the victory in the fourth quarter. Diego Willis (192-PG-99) accounted for 13 points, 7 assists and 6 steals, while Jorge De La Serna (200-PF-0) and Alonso Landin (187-SF-99) added 11 points apiece for Mexico. Gabriel Pino (194-F/G-99) and Carlos Lenuz (187-G-99) responded with 15 points each for Venezuela.
