Puerto Rico posted the first win at the tournament. They outgunned hosting Mexico in Day 2 action. Felipe Quinones (198-G-2008) scored 21 points to pace the winners. Puerto Rico used a strong 19-8 run in the second period to clear off for good. Rognny Santiago (185-G-2007) delivered 13 points for the winners. Dylan Aguilera (192-F-2007) answered with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Mexico.
USA - Argentina 113-52
USA cruised past Argentina for the second consecutive win in Merida. Five players scored in double digits for the North American team as they dominated from start to finish. Cameron Boozer (206-PF-2007) had 19 points and 8 rebounds, while Cayden Boozer (196-G-2007) and Koa Peat (201-C-2007, college: USA NT U16) added 13 points apiece for the USA. Tomas Scola (200-F-2007) replied with 8 points for Argentina.
Canada - Uruguay 75-65
Canada held off Uruguay to improve at 2-0 record in Group B. Canada grabbed a 38-33 halftime advantage. Uruguay pulled within 2 points at the final break. But Canada responded with a 24-16 run in the fourth stanza and rallied to the victory. Quinten Ethier (190-SG-2007) and Kamai Samuels (184-PG-2007) tossed in 17 points each for Canada. Joaquin Taboada (190-SF-2007) replied with 18 points for Uruguay.
Brazil - Dominican Republic 68-66
Brazil nipped Dominican Republic to gain the second straight win in Merida. It was a close battle from start to finish. Brazil enjoyed a narrow 36-33 halftime lead. Dominican Republic surged ahead in the third term but not for long. Brazil limited their opponents to just 10 points in the fourth stanza and snatched a tough win at the end. Patrick Perna (191-SF-2007) posted 21 points, while Nolan Kemm (189-PG-2007) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for Brazil. Eliel Ulloa (201-F-2007) responded with 17 points for Dominican Republic.
