Mexico - Dominican Republic 68-69 Jostin Hernandez (179-PG-2009) sank a free throw with 2 seconds left in regulation to propel Dominican Republic past Mexico in the tight contest. Luis Valdez (187-F-2009) scored 18 points to lead the winners as they finished at 2-1 record in Group A. Malvin Duran (176-SG-2009) provided 11 points for Dominican Republic. Alvaro Romero (194-G-2009) answered with 19 points and 15 rebounds for Mexico. Group BPuerto Rico - Canada 81-94Canada claimed the third straight win in Suarez as they rolled past Puerto Rico. Canada led by just 2 points at the final break but they went on a 26-15 rally in the fourth period to ice the win. Isaiah Hamilton (198-SF-2009) chipped in 20 points, while Kenyon St Louis had 12 points and 10 assists for the North American team. Dwight Gaines (156-PG-2009) replied with 28 points for Puerto Rico. Venezuela - Brazil 75-67 Venezuela held off Brazil for the first win in Juarez. Kevin Gutierrez (196-F-2009) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. The teams were tied at 36 heading into the second half. But Venezuela stepped on the gas after the big break and rallied to the initial victory. Julio Vasquez (190-SG-2009) had 15 points for Venezuela. Lucas Moro (195-F-2009) tossed in 20 points for Brazil. |
