USA stormed past Brazil to reach the semifinal stage. USA unloaded 80 points in the first half to earn an unassailable lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Nasir Anderson (190-G-2009) posted 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Marcus Spears (201-F-2009) added 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Lucas Moro (195-F-2009) answered with 14 points for Brazil. Puerto Rico - Argentina 89-79 Puerto Rico held off Argentina to stay in the title race. Dwight Gaines (156-PG-2009) came up with 20 points to lead Puerto Rico into the semifinal stage. Puerto Rico established a 40-31 halftime lead. They poured in 49 points in the second half to march to the win. Darell Rodriguez (198-C-2009) accounted for 12 points and 12 rebounds for Puerto Rico. Tomas Sandes (193-C-2009) netted 20 points for Argentina. Dominican Republic - Venezuela 57-71 Venezuela outscored Dominican Republic to make it into the semifinal stage in Juarez. Kevin Gutierrez (196-F-2009) accounted for 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Dominican Republic eked out a 31-29 halftime lead. But Venezuela answered with a strong 42-26 rally in the second half to march to the win. Julio Vasquez (190-SG-2009) tossed in 15 points for Venezuela. Malvin Duran (176-SG-2009) topscored with 18 points for Dominican Republic. Canada - Mexico 96-70 Canada breezed past Mexico en route to the semifinal stage. The North American team dominated from start to finish. They fired 58 points in the first half to pile up a 22-point advantage. They protected the lead well throughout the second half and eased to the win. Isaiah Hamilton (198-SF-2009) chipped in 27 points, while Isaiah Clarke (198-PF-2009) tossed in 14 points for Canada. Diego Licon (180-PG-2010) responded with 18 points for Mexico. |
