Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Seventh-ranked Venados (9-15) were very close to win a game against second ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (15-9) on Wednesday. Pioneros Los Mochis managed to secure only two-point victory 99-97. However their fans expected much easier game. Pioneros Los Mochis dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Venados' 32. Pioneros Los Mochis forced 19 Venados turnovers and had a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Venados helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American Anthony Johnson (203-1988, college: Fairfield) contributed with 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Pioneros Los Mochis' coach Guillermo Vecchio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Decensae White (198-1988, college: SF State) replied with 23 points and 4 assists for Venados. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains second position with 15-9 record having just two points less than leader Astros, which they share with Hermosillo. Venados at the other side keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis is looking forward to face Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) on the road in the next round. Venados will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best for the losing side was American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains fifth position with 11-13 record, which they share with Guaymas. Defending champion Rayos de Hermosillo dropped to the second place with nine games lost. They share the position with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Venados (#7) in Mazatlan in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play at home against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Guaymas was smashed by Astros on the road 90-54. Obregon lost to Culiacan on its own court 84-90. Hermosillo managed to outperform Tijuana in a road game 97-87. Astros managed to beat Guaymas at home 102-90. Bottom-ranked Culiacan were defeated by Obregon on the opponent's court 105-92.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 27 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists by Leroy Davis of Culiacan.



Tijuana - Hermosillo 78-71

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (15-9) against fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (11-13) on Tuesday night. Visiting Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Tijuana Zonkeys in a tough game in Tijuana 71-78. Tijuana Zonkeys made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ostioneros de Guaymas 61-32 including a 51-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. There was an upset when higher ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (13-11) lost at home to bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (5-19) 90-84 on Tuesday. Caballeros de Culiacan shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 58.6 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caballeros de Culiacan made 7 blocks.
