They shocked hosting Mexico in overtime to capture the trophy. Edir Ortiz (198-PF-03) stepped up with 28 points, 10 steals and 8 rebounds to lead the charge. Mexico posted a 42-33 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 16-point mark heading into the fourth frame. But Puerto Rico responded with a 21-5 run in the next period to force overtime. They outscored Mexico in the extra period to snatch the win. Alejandro Aviles (206-C-06) and Jose Ortiz (04) had 12 points each for Puerto Rico. Santiago Camacho (04) answered with 35 points for Mexico. 3-4 PlaceDominican Republic - Costa Rica 102-54Dominican Republic earned the third position as they crushed Costa Rica in the consolation final. Panama sank 31 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss. Julian Solis (188-G-04) stepped up with 21 points to pace the winners. Fabian Arce (177-G-04) added 16 points in the victory. Humberto Kentish (173-G-05) answered with 18 points for Panama. Puerto Rico - Aruba 104-33 Puerto Rico eased past Aruba for the third straight win in Mexicali. Puerto Rico accounted for a 53-18 halftime lead. They sank 51 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Puerto Rico - Costa Rica 95-60 Puerto Rico cruised past Costa Rica for the second straight win in Group A. Puerto Rico piled up a 44-27 halftime lead. They sank 51 points in the second half and marched to a comfortable win at the end. Aruba - Panama 48-108 Panama rallied past Aruba for the first win in Mexicali. Panama opened a comfortable 33-17 lead after ten minutes. Kyrian Brooks (04) answered with 18 points for Aruba. Jamaica - El Salvador 95-78 Jamaica improved at 1-1 record in Group B as they prevailed against El Salvador. Jamaica sank 26 points in the second term to open an 8-point halftime lead. Jamaica stayed red hot offensively in the second half as they poured in 47 points and rallied to the win.
