The Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, Mexico and Puerto Rico qualified for the semifinals of the 2009 Centrobasket U17 Championship played in Aguascalientes after playing day 2.

Dominican Republic played two games due to their late arrival which made it impossible to play on the first day. In their first game they edged Bahamas 73-71 after a basket by Eddy Rafael Guisarri with 15 seconds left. In that game Bemil Antonio Faulkner finished with 19 points and 18 boards.

In the second game the Dominicans beat Guatemala 78-47. The Dominican Republic lost the first quarter 20-14 but in the second quarter they won 27-5 to dominate at halftime 41-25. In the win Eddy Rafael Guisarri had 20 points.

US Virgin Islands crushed Nicaragua 123-30 as Aaron Cottrel Brown led with 23 points. USVI won the first quarter 30-9 and at halftime the lead was 59-13.

Finally Mexico won over Bahamas 88-51 to close day 2. Ernesto Morales and Alan Llamas netted 16 each.

In the last day of the preliminary round the semifinal games will be decided after the group winners are known.
