El Salvador - Mexico 44-86
Mexico beat El Salvador to tie both records in Group A of the U17 Centrobasket. Mexico celebrated an 86:44 win in Caguas at the start of Day 2. Both teams scored 12 points each in the first period, while Mexico dominated the rest of the game. They posted a 23-11 surge in the second frame and took 12-point lead at the halftime. Mexico erupted with a 30-7 burst in the third period and increased to 35-point advantage after 30 minutes. Moreover they won the last stanza 21-14 and sealed an easy win. Tona Austreberto top-scored for the inners with 18 points and Alvaro Mendoza (SF-96) notched 15. Suarez Jeffry delivered 13, whilst Olalde Raul netted 12. Leonardo Hernandez (177-SG-97) ended up with 17 points in the losing effort and Alas Rene scored 9. Rodrigo Gutierrez (175-PG-96) ended up with 8, whilst Regalado Amilcar had 5.
Dominican Republic - British Virgin Islands 98-45
Dominican Republic improves to 2-0 record in Group A of the U17 Centrobasket. They overcame British Virgin Islands 98:45 in the start of the second day in Caguas. British Virgin Islands meanwhile fell at 0-2 record. Dominican Republic won the first period 15:10 and also allowed the opponents to post 10 points in the second frame. Dominican Republic meanwhile erupted with 26 and took 41:20 halftime advantage. The second half also belonged to the favorites that posted another two victories. Dominican Republic won the third quarter 30-16 and finished the game with 27-9 rally. Guillen Luis top-scored for the winners with 13 points and Jeromy Rodriguez (198-PF-96) as well as Flores Yerri had 12 each. Matos Jhery, Daniel Vitiello (178-PG-99) and Valera Elvin poured in 11 points each. Franklyn Penn (185-PG-97) replied with 16 points in a loss, whilst Layne Glenal had 9. Rodgers Relando followed them with 4 points in defeat.
Group B
Costa Rica - Bahamas 74-116
Bahamas leave no chance for Costa Rica in Day 2 of the U17 Centrobasket. Bahamas won 116:74 and improved to 2-0 record in Group B. Costa Rica meanwhile suffered their second loss and dropped at 0-2 record. Bahamas was the favorite of the game and started with 29:23 lead. They added 27-20 rally in the second period and had 56:43 at the halftime. Bahamas managed to score 30 points in the third and then the last period to ensure a comfortable win. Rashad Davis (185-SF-97) top-scored for the winners with 22 points and Gibson Qyemah netted 21. Shakwon Lewis (178-PG-96) delivered 19, whilst Bain Charles had 12. Daniel Shedden (190-PF-96) erupted with 32 points in defeat and Chacon Marco collected 16 points and 10 rebounds in a loss. Fonseca Jose poured in 10, whilst Pearson Miguel had 9.
Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands 84-90
U.S. Virgin Islands pip hosts in Day 2 of the U17 Centrobasket. They celebrated a 90:84 victory and improved to 1-1 record. Puerto Rico meanwhile suffered their first loss and also has the same record. U.S. Virgin Islands started well and grabbed 29:16 lead at the end of the first period. They however believed in the victory too early and needed a thriller to win the game. Puerto Rico won the second period 22-15 and added 22-18 run in the third quarter. U.S. Virgin Islands however managed to win the last stanza 28-24 and sealed the victory. Springer Nicholas stepped up with 24 points for the winners and Fredericks Rashawn delivered 22. Jordan Murphy (193-C-97) collected 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Felix Jah-Gamba added 10. Alex Ramos (185-SG-97) answered with high 29 points and Gandia Ivan notched 22. Morales Jose brought 9 and Gerardo Texeira (195-PF-97) had 8.
