Guatemala - Mexico 56-94 Mexico outgunned Guatemala at the start of the Centrobasket tournament. Bryan Urrutia (180-PG-97) came up with 17 points to lead the winners. Mexico unloaded 32 points in the second frame to take a 21-point halftime lead. They followed with a 28-point effort in the third term to gain a 40-point lead at the final break. Mexico controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter and sailed to the win. Paulo Arroyo (195-PF) had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Mexico. Hector Chur (179-F) and Carlos Hengstenberg (172-SG) responded with 17 points each for Guatemala.
Dominican Republic - Costa Rica 88-45 Dominican Republic outgunned Costa Rica in the opening game at the tournament. Dominican Republic accumulated a massive 55:20 halftime lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Samuel Hurtado (195-SF) finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Jose Perez (195-G) and Ismael Waldron (200-F) netted 12 points each for Dominican Republic. Ricardo Rojas (177-SF) answered with 10 points for Costa Rica.

Puerto Rico - Barbados 97-37 Hosting Puerto Rico got to a perfect start of the Centrobasket campaign. They fired past Barbados to take 1-0 record in Group B. C Negron netted 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rico opened a 42:14 halftime lead and coasted to the victory. Jesus Cruz (195-F/G-98) tossed in 14 points for the winning side. Brandon Hope (182-G) responded with 8 points for Barbados.
U.S. Virgin Islands - Bahamas 82-79 US Virgin Islands held off Bahamas for the opening victory in San Juan. Jahmia Simmons (190-SG-98) tallied 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. US Virgin Islands recorded a 25:14 lead after ten minutes. They extended the gap at 15-point mark at the final break. Bahamas unloaded 33 points in the fourth stanza but could not avoid the defeat. Cazembe Brodie netted 14 points and collected 14 rebounds for the winners. Deondre Vilmar (193-PG-97) responded with 18 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for Bahamas.
