Puerto Rico edged Bahamas to open win count in San Juan. The hosts used a 22:12 run in the second term to take a 9-point halftime lead. They extended the lead to double digits in the third term. Bahamas narrowed the gap in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss. Rafael Pinzon (196-G-02) notched 16 points, while Ramses Melendez (198-F-02) had 12 points for Puerto Rico. Deyton Albury (188-PG-02) replied with 20 points for Bahamas.
U.S. Virgin Islands - El Salvador 90-62
US Virgin Islands defeated El Salvador in the opener. Virgin Islands recorded a 42:31 halftime lead. They poured in 48 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Jahsean Corbett (02) posted 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Jahmai Jones (02) added 18 points for the winners. Jose Sanchez (178-F-03) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds for El Salvador.

Mexico - Jamaica 100-38
Mexico dropped Jamaica to take the first win in San Juan. Mexico dominated from start to finish. They built a 59:18 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Esteban Roacho (191-G-02) posted 15 points, while Alex Garcia (192-F-02) and Ivan Bernal (188-PG-02) chipped in 12 points each for Mexico. Joshua Minott (02) replied with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Jamaica.
Panama - Dominican Republic 74-95
Dominican Republic rallied past Panama in the opening game at the tournament. Dominican Republic built a 54:37 halftime lead. They sank 41 points in the second half to race to the victory. Jean Montero (185-G-03) was unstoppable with 31 points, while Alexis Matos (201-F-02) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Dominican Republic. Guillermo Navarro (164-PG-03) replied with 22 points for Panama.
