The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Abejas (7-5) in Guanajuato on Friday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Dorados (5-5) 76-75. Important game to mention about took place in Guadalajara. Fifth ranked Panteras (5-7) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Astros (7-5) 82-80 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astros. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Joshua Ibarra (211-95, college: HBU) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and Ernesto Oglivie who added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Panteras moved-up to third place, which they share with Plateros. Astros at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. They share it with Abejas and Soles. Panteras will play against league's leader Abejas in Guanajuato in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Astros will play on the road against Libertadores in Queretaro and hope to get back on the winning track.

Halcones UV Xalapa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Plateros lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Panteras. Halcones UV Xalapa will meet higher ranked Soles (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Plateros will play against the league's leader Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Dorados were beaten by Abejas on the road 87-79. Soles destroyed Libertadores on its own court 108-74. Lenadores unfortunately lost to Fuerza Regia in Monterrey 81-98. Soles managed to beat Libertadores at home 88-84. Lenadores were defeated by Fuerza Regia on the opponent's court 81-67. Astros beat Panteras in a home game 89-77. Plateros lost to Halc.Xalapa on the road 84-91.



Abejas - Dorados 87-79

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Abejas (7-5) beat one of their biggest challengers Dorados (5-5) in Guanajuato 87-79 on Thursday. The winners were led by American guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Dominican forward Juan Suero (196-93) did not help to save the game for Dorados. The former international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Five Abejas and four Dorados players scored in double figures.
