The most exciting game of round 8 in the LNBP took place in Mexicali. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Astros (12-6) to sixth ranked Soles (5-13) 99-96 on Thursday evening. Soles outrebounded Astros 32-17 including 21 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican Donte Clark who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American Hollis Thompson (203-1991, college: Georgetown) who added 25 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 16 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Soles maintains sixth position with 5-13 record. Astros lost third consecutive game. Defending champion still keep top place with six games lost. They share the position with Libertadores. Soles are looking forward to face higher ranked Halcones Rojos (#5) in Veracruz in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astros will play at home against Plateros (#4) and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Panteras (10-7) against fourth ranked Plateros (9-9) on Thursday night. Visiting Panteras were defeated by Plateros in a tough game in Fresnillo 93-97. The winners were led by the former international center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Tu Holloway supported him with 12 points, 14 assists and 4 steals. Even 20 points and 7 assists by American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Plateros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-9 record, which they share with Dorados. Panteras at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Plateros will play against higher ranked Astros (#3) in Guadalajara in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Panteras will play at home against Correcaminos and hope to get back on the winning track.

Soles lost to defending champion Astros at home 59-68. Freseras outscored Correcaminos on the opponent's court 121-92. Abejas managed to beat Fuerza Regia in a home game 85-80. Mineros was defeated by Halc.Xalapa on the road 93-85. Libertadores smashed Dorados on its own court 89-65. Halc.Rojos were destroyed by Santos in San Luis Potosi 82-57. Santos outscored Halc.Rojos at home 99-80.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 28 points and 11 rebounds by Tavario Miller of Halc.Rojos.




Correcaminos - Freseras 105-109

There was a minor upset in Ciudad Victoria where their close opponent Correcaminos (1-16) were defeated by seventh ranked Freseras (3-15) 109-105 on Wednesday. Freseras shot 60.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Matthew Butler (188-1995, college: UT Martin) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds.
