The SKB Ballers, a 13-member strong National Female Basketball Team, left the Federation on Tuesday 25th November 2008 for Antigua where they participated in the 9th Annual Gillian Brazier female basketball tournament.
The team, led by Coach Romel Tobias , Assistant Coach Tyrone O'Loughlin and Captain Kyrle Chumney, is participating for the fifth time.

The SKB Ballers, a 13-member strong National Female Basketball Team, left the Federation on Tuesday 25th November 2008 for Antigua where they participated in the 9th Annual Gillian Brazier female basketball tournament.
The team, led by Coach Romel Tobias , Assistant Coach Tyrone O'Loughlin and Captain Kyrle Chumney, is participating for the fifth time. The team captured the tournaments silver medal after a hard fought 68 52 loss against arch rivals Antigua's Lady Vipers, at the JSC Sports complex on Sunday night. The game was evenly matched but with many intense moments. Lady Vipers led the first quarter 14 12, and St. Kitts the half 31 30. However, St. Kitts lost composure after the resumption to give Lady Vipers a 10pts lead at the end of the third, and a little too late effort in the fourth. Carol Warner had 14pts and Leondra Cotton 13pts, 6 rebounds, 3 assists. . The SKB Ballers is a mixture of youth and experience and includes four-time All Tournament Player, Leandra Cotton and veterans Carol Warner and Avril McKoy. Leondra Cotton and Pamella 'Pats' Huggins made the All-Tourmanet team.
This year, the Gillian Brazier Tournament involved teams from Antigua , Barbuda, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Coach Tobias said that although the team fell short of championship glory he is still quite satisfied with their performance. He thanked everyone who assisted with the teams preparations including Tyrone OLoughlin; Assistant Coach; Vernice Morton, Physiotherapist; Jamoy Gumbs, Trainer; Elvis Williams; Bertram Richards, and Vanessa Paris.
He also expressed his profound thanks to Mr. Lindsay Grant who was the teams major sponsor. Appreciation was also extended to other sponsors including the National Olympic Committee , Joey Deane and Associates,S.L Horsford & Co. Ltd and Island Rythyms. Mr.Lindsay Grant was at the airport to see the team off and gave the team some much appreciated words of encouragement and wished them well .

Puerto Rican team easily secured the top spot in Group B at the home CBC championship. This guaranteed them a semifinal birth. They will now play versus Dominican Republic in today's Top 4 action.
Puerto Rico completed the preliminary round with a perfect 2-0 record, while Antigua finished the tournament winless.

Puerto Rican players gave Antiguan side little chances in this one. They dominated the game right from the start and enjoyed a 28:14 lead after the first frame. Antiguan squad struggled to maintain the hosts and fell benind 20 points at halftime 25:48. Puerto Rico continued to dismantle their counterparts in the third stanza and drove to a 73:31 advantage. The outcome was clear and Puerto Rican coach allowed bench players to log some more minutes on the court. This never influenced the flow of the game and Puerto Rico won the final quarter 18:12. Pamela Rosado (160-G-86) topscored for Puerto Rico with 18 points. Cynthia Valentin (173-G-84, college: Indiana) and Angeiely Morales (-87) added 16 points apiece for the winners. Amanda Edwards (-88) answered with 15 points for Antigua. Dalia Clarke (-78) had 8 points and 10 boards in a losing clause.
