Larry Elias Ayuso (190-G-77, agency: Global Sports Plaza, college: USC), who had a great FIBA Americas Tournament, received offers from Russia, Cyprus and even the Iran to play in the upcoming season, but is still weighing his options.

Brazil is the winner of FIBA Americas Championship 2009! In very exciting Final game Brazilians celebrated 60-61, despite Puerto Rico finished the last quarter with impressive 23-11 and had a chance at the very end. It means that after Gold four years ago in Santo Domingo, Brazil grabbed another one (USA celebrated in 2007). Tiago Splitter (211-C/F-85, agency: Interperformances) nailed 13 pts and grabbed 9 boards, while all other players in Brazil were below 10. The hosts got 14 points from Carlos Arroyo (188-G-79, college: Florida Intern.).

Argentina - Canada 88-73 The Bronze on FIBA Americas Championship 2009 belongs to Argentina. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) and his teammates were too strong for Canada registering comfortable 15-point win. Canada stays without the medal, but it also met the main target in San Juan - ticket for the 2010 World Championship in Turkey. Top scorer of the event, Scola had another great performance netting 27 points. Pablo Prigioni (191-G-77) had 17 points and 8 assists, while Paolo Quinteros (186-G-79) added 13 pts. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh) delivered 12 points in loss. Aaron Doornekamp (198-F-85, agency: Interperformances) followed with one point less.
