The tournament of the League Senior of Basketball (LSB) Hoops I am Alive has ended. Giants and the ASBA disputed on Saturday July 3rd 2010 at Quisqueya Christian School the final. Here is a resume of the interview of Mr. Jason VALBRUN, one of the persons in charge of LSB, by a reporter of the newspaper Le Matin two days before the final. After the disaster of January 12, the Haitian basketball was inactive and to mitigate this handicap, we at the LSB, took the initiative to gather the basketball family by organizing a tournament. We have organizes the tournament without the support of any sponsors. We have even requested to the participating teams to give a contribution for which several were unable to answer positively - he mentioned. We asked several private institutions, some ONGs and OIs to join this tournament. It is only the MINUSTAH with its Philippines contingent that had answered to our invitation. In the name of all the members of the LSB I thank the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), which expresses its intention to participate in the championship of festival vacations planed for next July. We intend to carry out this championship with 14 teams and we hope that the Ministry of Sports will help to carry out this tournament in order to make it possible to the young people to enjoy it - he informed. German team Bayreuth announced signing of the former Canadian National Team player Osvaldo Jeanty (183-G-84, agency: Interperformances). The 26-year old guard, who has Haitian citizenship as well, is coming to Bayreuth from LTi Giessen 46ers, where he spent second half of 2009/10 season. Jeanty appeared 14 times in the German top division averaging 13.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. Osvaldo Jeanty started last season with Giants Noerdlingen (Germany-second division), but in October moved to Romanian Gaz Metan Medias. Finally, he joined Giessen in January. From 2007 to October 2009 Jeanty was a member of Noerdlingen. With them he was the German 2.Bundesliga Pro A Regular Season Champion. In 2009, Jeanty was the German Bundesliga All-Star Game 3-Point Shootout Winner Osvaldo Jeanty is a product of Carleton University. In his senior season (2006/07) Jeanty averaged 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 21 games. He was CIS All-Canadian Player of the Year -06, 07. In 2006 and 2007 Jeanty was a member of the Canadian National Team. He played for them at the Panamerican Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) -07. In five games on this event he averaged 1 ppg.
