Puerto Rico won the fifth place in Gurabo. The host of U18 FIBA Americas Championship handed 56-46 loss to Colombia in the last day of the competition. USA defended the gold medal in Gurabo. Silver belongs to Brazil, while Argentina won the bronze.

In order to take position No.5, Colombia will have to beat Puerto Rico. At the other side, Mexico will meet Dominican Republic trying to avoid last place at this event. USA is the winner of Group A in Gurabo with perfect 3-0 record. They handed 87-36 loss to Colombia in the last day of the Preliminary Round. It means that USA advanced to the Semifinals of U18 FIBA Americas championship, where they will meet Canada. USA is the defending champion. It means that USA advanced to the Semifinals of U18 FIBA Americas championship, where they will meet Canada. USA is the defending champion. Their best player in this meeting was Alexis Prince (188-G/F-94) with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Morgan Tuck (188-F-94) (6 rebs) and Michaela Mabrey (175-G-94) netted 17 and 15 points respectively. It is very important to mention that USA booked a ticket for the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship. Colombia finished as third ranked team of Group A (1-2) and failed to reach the next stage. They will continue in classification games from 5th-8th place. Maria Tapias (95) and Laura Ramirez (94) scored 15 pts each for Colombia in this game. Championship continues today.
