The formely named Liga Profesional de Baloncesto completed some negotiations wth local Federacion de Baloncesto de Guatemala (FBG) to restart its activity soon. The main point of the agreement is that LPB renounced to its previous professional status to come back under the control of the FBG and FIBA. The new agreed name is Liga Pro-Basket de Guatemala, that will abbreviated in LBP as before. The LPB Council agreed on the affiliation in FBG as an independent league, and this will grant to the new LPB a sure life and no suspension to all its athletes and coaches in future. Walfred Corado , the Head Coach and GM of Club Elite, was elected as the CEO of this new Liga Pro-Basket and will stay in charge four years. Just after his election, Corado stated: 'Guatemalan sports is in need of new officials, who are not only passionately fond in their sports, but also able to make long term plans and to manage the season well. With this new league I hope to revew Guatemalan Basketball and to succesfully complete our projects, both the medium term and the long term ones.'
