National team 6-3 guard, Ian Young, contributed 12pts for Guaynabo in a 76-70 win over San German in the Puerto Rican BSN league on April 29! Young was recently signed by Guynabo following a short stint in the Venezuelan league with Gaiteros averaging 13.5ppg & 2.9 assists in eleven games. The following day Young had 14pts & 7 assists but Guynabo still sent under 98-106 against Humacao.

Meanwhile over in Japan, 6-9 power foward Julius Ashby scored a double double 23pts & 14rebs as Shiga Lakestars defeated Fukuoka Rizing 96-86 in the Japanese men BJ league on May 5. Ashby, who having an outstanding season, helped Shiga improved to 33-19. With the win Shiga are in 4th position in the Western division standings.

Over in Tawian, national team co-captain 6-10 Kibwe Trim had a big game with 25pts & 17rebs. But Tawian Beer still lost a close 69-71 game to Dacin Tigers on May 1 in the SBL semi-finals. With the loss Taiwan Beer was eliminated 4-3 in the best of seven series. While Tigers will move on to play Pure Youth in the finals.

T&TU-19 basketballers win Jamaica club title - 17 days ago

Under-19 basketballers Ezeoha Santiago, Mohammed Elias and Jabari Narcis represented T&T well so much so that they picked up the top awards in helping the national youth team cop the title at the Jamaica Hoopfest Club Tournament which took place in Montego Bay, Jamaica, a week ago. KTP Basket Kotka (Korisliiga) landed experienced 35-year old Trinidad and Tobago ex-international point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances). He played in the summer at Caballeros de Culiacan in Mexican CIBACOPA. In 34 games he averaged impressive 16.1ppg, 3.6rpg and 3.1apg.
