Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuelan SG Rafael Perez (193-G/F-82) had his best performance since joining Toros de Nuevo Laredo as a foreign reinforcement player for the LNBP 2011-2012 playoffs in Mexico, as he was able to score 23 points and lead them to a victory over Fuerza Regia Monterrey, 74-69, that forced Game 7 and tied the Semifinals series, 3-3 between these teams.

He was supported by Ike Ofoegbu (205-F-85) with 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Monterrey's top performers were Alvin Cruz (186-PG-82) with 20 points, Terrence Shannon (203-F-79) with 19 points and 16 rebounds and Donta Smith (201-G-83) with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
Perez is trying to get his team to the Finals, where he'd be facing Halcones Rojos de Veracruz, the team of fellow Venezuelans PG Gregory Vargas (182-PG-86) and PF Luis Bethelmy (200-F/C-86), whom were able to sweep the powerful Pioneros de Quintana Roo, 4-0, and advance without hesitations.

Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuelan PF Dennison Rodriguez (202-F-89) continues to be used as a starter by the head coach of th Casper College Thunderbirds in his second season as a player of the NJCAA college basketball level in the United States, averaging 6.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 18 games, 17 as a starter.
Rodriguez netted 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in a victory over as visitors, 72-59, the first of a three-game span that has led them to a 15-6 record overall in the 2011-2012 season. They were later defeated by Western Nebraska CC 87-72 but picked up their pace with a win over Western Wyoming CC in Rock Springs, 87-76.
Even though not a natural scorer, Rodriguez has the ability to grab rebounds and help out the center in the defensive end with long arms to guard and a good jump. He's working on becoming a more suitable shooter from mid-range and a better option when his team is attacking the opponents.

Valdez, born in Maturin, Monagas, scored 10 points with 2 rebounds and 3 assists in a triumph over AIB (76-54), and then smashed down Waldorf (71-55) with 30 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, including 6 three-point shots scored out of 9 attempts.
In his last game, he tallied 16 points in a tight 72-70 triumph over Mount Mercy with 7 rebounds and 4 assists to go with those.
He's averaging 12.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game in 23 contests.
