#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Greivis Vasquez (197-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Maryland, currently plays in NBA). He led New Orleans Hornets to a victory over the Philadelphia 76ers (17-23) 111-99 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game.
Vasquez was MVP of the game. He recorded 23 points and added 9 passes in 36 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Vasquez's third season in pro basketball. The New Orleans Hornets have rather weak 13-27 record this season.
Vasquez has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 9.2apg, 2FGP: 45.6%, 3FGP: 38.0% and FT: 76.2% in the 40 games he played so far.
Vasquez is currently a member of the Venezuelan senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international guard John Cox (196-81, college: USF, currently plays in EuroChallenge). He was the major contributor in Paris-Levallois' victory against the fourth-ranked Hapoel Holon (0-1) 83-66 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday.
Cox recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Paris-Levallois (1-0) is placed second in group J.
Cox's overall stats this season are: 8.6ppg, 1.7rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 39.5%, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 72.7%.
He is a naturalized American.
Cox is in the roster of the Venezuelan senior national team. He used to play for Marinos de Anzoategui in Venezuelan league.
#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Gregory Echenique (206-90, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. Echenique could not help the Creighton (4-1) to beat the Wichita State University (6-1).
He recorded 9 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks in 29 minutes.
But the Creighton was edged 67-64 on the road by the Wichita State University.
They ended the series of four consecutive victories.
This year Echenique's overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 1.7rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 39.5%, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 72.7% in the seven games.
He is also a member of the Venezuelan senior national team.
#4. Forward Michael Carrera (196-93, currently studies in the States) contributed to an overtime S.Carolina's victory against the Louisiana State University (0-4) 82-73 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game.
Carrera recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds.
The University of South Carolina has 1-3 conference record this season.
Carrera's total stats this year are: 8.6ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.7apg.
He is a naturalized American.
Carrera is also Venezuelan national team player.
Strangely he has never played in Venezuela.
#5. International forward Juan Coronado (203-90, is currently at the American university) was not able to help the Liberty (1-4) in their game against the High Point University (3-2) in the NCAA.
Coronado recorded 5 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists in 38 minutes.
The Liberty lost in an overtime 72-77 in High Point, NC to the High Point University.
This year Coronado's total stats are: 8.6ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.7apg in the seven games.
He plays currently for the Venezuelan national team.
#6. Forward Anthony Perez (206-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help The University of Mississippi in a victory in overtime against the Vanderbilt University (1-2) 89-79 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game.
Perez scored only 3 points in 7 minutes on the court.
The The University of Mississippi has 3-0 conference record this season.
So far his team won all three games in the conference.
It's Perez's first year with the team.
He has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 2.1rpg in the 15 games.
Perez is an international player who is currently on the senior Venezuelan National Team roster.

#1. Experienced Javier Roman (207-F/C-80, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) could not help Leyma Basquet (6-9) to beat Palencia Baloncesto (9-6). Roman did not beat the league record on Friday evening.
He scored only 3 points.
Leyma Basquet was defeated 69-63 on the road by the higher-ranked Palencia_Baloncesto (#4).
It was Leyma Basquet's fourth consecutive loss in a row.
Roman has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 2.1rpg.
He has a dual citizenship: Venezuelan and Spanish.

A very good season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com Uruguay LUB All-Imports Team. Among other achievements Pettigrew's college team won Sun Belt Tournament for two years in a row (2008 and 2009). He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2011 and it will be his second season in pro basketball.

The previous (2011) summer Battle was tested by Marinos. In 2003 Battle was drafted by Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs (USBL) in third round (22nd overall). The former Drexel University standoutis in his tenth season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as Battle was voted Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LEB Gold Player of the Year back in 2009. He is quite experienced player. Battle has played also professionally in France, Mexico (Santos), Turkey (Goztepe), Spain (Palma and Blancos de Rueda).
