Diogu sends Nigeria to London as they have qualified for the Olympic Games. The African team overcame Dominican Republic 88:73 in the game for the last ticket from the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Nigeria opened the game with a 24-18 surge in the opening period. They added 23-21 in the second frame and had 47:39 lead at the halftime.
The third quarter belonged to Dominican Republic that started to reduce the gap. Francisco Garcia (201-F/G-81, college: Louisville) struck a trademark triple and the three-quarter time score was 59:57 to Nigeria. The Dominicans were not done and a Coronado triple followed by two Baez free throws squared the game with 5 minutes to go. Nigeria however dominated the rest of the game. They pushed the tempo for good and due to 29-16 in the last stanza won the game and punched the ticket to London.
Ike Diogu (208-F/C-83, college: Arizona St.) erupted with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Al-Farouq Aminu (206-F-90, college: Wake Forest) notched 14. Derrick Obasohan (198-F-81, agency: Beo Basket, college: Texas Arlington) posted 11 and Alade Aminu (210-C-87, college: Georgia Tech) added 9. Francisco Garcia ended up with 17 points in the losing effort, whilst Jack Michael Martinez (201-F-81, agency: Paris Global Sports) followed him with 16. Baez poured in 13 and Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) as well as Gil added 12 apiece.

Bameso climbed on top of the standings in the District Nacional tournament. They handed the first loss to previously undefeated Los Minas 103:93. Both teams are now tied at 3-1 record.
