Mid-season champions Granville Jaguars and beaten finalist Hoopers stayed on course for a place in the finals of the Flow National Basketball League-West competition after scoring good wins in third round games on Saturday. Jaguars dealt two-time defending champions Catherine Hall's chances a big blow with a 76-68 win in the first game, while Hoopers turned back MBCC Knights 82-66 as both stayed on top of the points tables. Jaguars stayed on top with 21 points from12 games, with Hoopers next on 18 points same as Lucea Flames, with Catherine Hall on 17 points and Knights on 16 with Railway Lane Tigers on 12. Leroy Lawrence continued his impressive season with a double-double 25 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks to lead Jaguars to their ninth win as they beat the two-time defending champions for the second time this season. Jaguars were in control of the game, leading by five points 18-13 after the first quarter and were up 40-34 at half-time and extended their lead to 54-44 going into the fourth quarter. Greg Bernard also came up big for Jaguars with 16 points, six rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots as Vaughn Corke also scored 25 points for Catherine Hall as well as three rebounds, three steals and four assists with Jermaine Rerrie scoring 16 points and had eight rebounds. Mikhail Smith led Hoopers' balanced scoring with 14 points, six rebounds, four steals and five assists with Dwayne Johns scoring 13 points and had nine rebounds as they led 13-9, 39-26 and 58-48 at the intervals. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Jamaican players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is former international center Roy Hibbert (218-86). He was the major contributor in an Indiana Pacers' victory against the Miami Heat in the NBA in Saturday night's game.

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Jamaican players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is former international center Roy Hibbert (218-86, college: Georgetown, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in an Indiana Pacers' victory against the Miami Heat (66-16) 91-77 in the NBA in Saturday night's game.
Hibbert had a double-double by scoring 24 points and getting 11 rebounds in 42 minutes on the court.
The Indiana Pacers have a solid 49-32 record this season.
It's Hibbert's fifth year with the team.
He belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #4 with 2.5bpg.
Hibbert also averaged so far 12.9ppg, 8.6rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 46.2%, 3FGP: 25.0% and FT: 76.1% in the 98 games he played so far.
He is a naturalized American.
Hibbert played for the Jamaican senior national team three years ago.
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Samardo Samuels (206-89, college: Louisville, currently plays in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League. He could not help Hapoel Jerusalem (13-14) in their last game on Monday. Despite Samuels' very good performance the fifth-placed Hapoel Jerusalem was defeated 78-72 on the road by the leading Maccabi T-A in the Places 1-6 group.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 12 rebounds.
Samuels has relatively good stats this season: 12.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 2FGP: 55.7%(54-97) and FT: 62.2%.
He is in the roster of the Jamaican senior national team.
#3. The Jamaican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Oritseweyinmi Efejuku (196-86, college: Providence, currently plays in Puerto Rico). He led Indios to a victory over the closely-ranked Capitanes (14-14) crushing them 100-73 in the Puerto Rican BSN in Saturday night's game.
Efejuku was MVP of the game. He scored 19 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists.
Indios de Mayaguez (17-12) is placed fourth in the BSN.
Efejuku has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.1apg, 3FGP: 28.9% and FT: 82.1%.
Efejuku has a dual citizenship: Nigerian and Jamaican.
He is also a member of the Jamaican senior national team.
#4. An experienced forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville, currently plays in Mexico) was not able to help Tijuana Zonkeys (15-17) in their game against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (15-17) in the Mexican CIBACOPA.
Thomas scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Tijuana Zonkeys was defeated 86-77 in Nogales by the lower-ranked Fuerza Guinda (#5).
Thomas' overall stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.1apg.
He used to play for the Jamaican national team
back in 2006.

#1.Adrian Uter (200-F/C-84, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Puerto Rico), who plays in the Puerto Rican BSN could not help Caciques (13-15) in their last game. Despite Uter's very good performance Caciques lost 93-99 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Indios.
He had a double-double by scoring 25 points and getting 12 rebounds. Uter also added 5 assists in 33 minutes.
Uter has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.0ppg, 11.0rpg and 2.5apg in the two games he played so far.
Uter is a naturalized American.
#2. Experienced Bryan Bailey (185-SG-80, college: Bucknell, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Lottomatica Roma (20-10) in their game against Cantu (17-13) in the Italian SerieA.
Bailey scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 21 minutes.
Lottomatica Roma lost 73-81 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#7) Cantu.
This year Bailey's overall stats are: 3.5ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.8apg in the 15 games.
He is a naturalized American.

Jamaica's Senior Men's National Team 'JamRockerZ' have secured valuable international practice matches as they prepare for the FIBA Americas tournament in Venezuela, starting in late August. It was confirmed that the Jamaican team will gave three crucial warm-up events as they prepare for the tournament that will be a qualifier for the FIBA World Championships set for next year. According to Ajani Williams, president of the Jamaica Basketball Association, the Jamaican team will play a number of friendlies in Toronto, Canada in a tournament set for August 8-11 then in San Juan, Puerto Rica, August 12-14 before another in Venezuela, August 25-27, just prior to the start of the tournament. Jamaica have been drawn in Group A where they will face Canada and Uruguay on August 31, Puerto Rico on September 2 and Brazil on September 3. After this stage, the top-two teams will advance to the semi-finals and are guaranteed places in the World Championships. Meanwhile, Williams said that they have managed to retain the core of their professional players who took them to a historic third place in the Centro tournament last year and are expected to significantly boost their team depth with new additions. Those returning from last year are Samardo Samuels (206-F/C-89, college: Louisville), Jerome Jordan (213-C-86, college: Tulsa), Patrick Ewing Jr. (203-F-84, college: Georgetown) and Oritseweyinmi Efejuku (196-G-86, college: Providence). Ryan Reid (203-C/F-86, college: Florida St.), who last played for Jamaica in 2011 and was a draft pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA, has committed to returning, the Jamaica Observer has learnt. Williams said JaBA was expecting to add more professional players, including 6' 5" New York-born point guard Durand Scott (196-G-90), formerly of the University of Miami. Also, the association is in discussion with 7' 0" centre Ryan Hollins (213-C-84, college: UCLA), who is presently playing for the Los Angeles Clippers after stints with several other teams in the NBA, including Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Williams said JaBA was still in dialogue with two additional NBA players "one of which is a legitimate burgeoning star" but said more would be said on those negotiations later.
