The Father Marcian Peters Basketball Tournament hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, has grown to become one of the largest gatherings for schools sports.
In its 24th edition, the tournament accommodated six divisions from primary, junior boys and girls along with intermediate boys and senior girls division from around the country. [read more]

In its 24th edition, the tournament accommodated six divisions from primary, junior boys and girls along with intermediate boys and senior girls division from around the country.
At the end of the tournament, the results favoured Teleos Christian Academy Cherubims as the Most Outstanding School having scored a total of 547 points.
Westminster Academy came in second with 486 points and C.R. Walker collected third place with 480 points.
With the incredible amount of talent displayed during the tournament, Director of Sports Martin Lundy said the individual performances of the athletes would not go unnoticed, as Friday, January 9th 2009 has been designated as the date to honour the young stars.
He said on the invitation of Minister Desmond Bannister, athletes from the Family Islands and Grand Bahama who have won individual awards would return to Nassau on January 9th to be honoured at a special reception.
The event will either take place at the Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatics Complex or in the Foyer of the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.
These athletes won the awards for most assists, most rebounds, most steals, sportsmanship, most block shots, most points scored, most valuable player, and all tournament team awards.
The most outstanding coaches in each of the six divisions would also be honoured on that evening.

The Bahama Pro Show team announced the addition in roster of swingaman Bobby Brown (6'4''-G/F-84), who had played in the team even last season. Just when we thought we couldnt get better, we confirmed the return of Bobby to the team. He made his return to the ABA in our game against the Knoxville Thunderbolts on December 27th, 2008. Coach Steven Culmer said: 'We were talking to him but we knew that he was looking at a major opportunity overseas while I am not in a position to comment on what happened with his deal or what will happen with the deal, all I can say is I am very pleased that we will have his services this season. Bobby Brown added: 'I am happy to be back with the Pro Show and the ABA I love the Bahamas and the friendly people who make me feel at home and I am proud to call the Bahamas my second home.'

Last week, The Bahama All Pro Show defeated local team Bamboo Shack Aces 121-99 at the Loyola Hall, Gladstone Rd. in Nassau, Bahamas. The friendly game served as season opener for the ABA Bahamanian team, that was led in scoring by Kevin Spicer (6'6''-F, college: Alabama St.) with 26pts, Zack Logan (6'7''-F-84) with 25pts and Dajan Smith (6'7''-F-80, college: Lynn) with 17pts. Next sunday, the Pro Show will start the ABA season hosting the Knoxville Thunderbolts. [read more]
