Quimsa became the new Liga Sudamericana champions. They held off Libertad Sunchales in the decisive game. Quimsa qualified to the FIBA Americas League to be held in December. Julio Mazzaro (190-G-79) knocked down 29 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead the hosting team to the historic success. Quimsa and Libertad Sunchales traded baskets throughout the opening frame. The scoreboard read 20:20 after ten minutes of action. Quimsa and Libertad stiffened their defense in the second quarter. Quimsa limited their opponents to just 8 points and earned a 4-point lead at halftime. The hosts stepped on the gas right after the main break. They exploded with 25 points to stretch the margin at 12-point mark. A high-scoring fourth frame saw Libertad pour in 32 points but it did not rescue the team. Quimsa matched the effort going for 30 points and claiming a confident win at the end. Jonathan Treise (182-G-85) scored 21 points and issued 5 assists for Quimsa. Libertad Sunchales made another step towards the Liga Sudamericana title. They held off Minas to improve at 2-0 record in the final round of the tournament in Argentinean Santiago del Estero. Libertad will now face Quimsa for the title later tonight.

They held off Minas to improve at 2-0 record in the final round of the tournament in Argentinean Santiago del Estero. Libertad will now face Quimsa for the title later tonight. Minas could not pick up the slack in the second half. They were not able to match the tempo and trailed by as many as 20 points heading into the fourth quarter. Libertad finally loosened the grip in the fourth frame allowing the Brazilian team to win the quarter. Libertad cruised to the win as Laron Profit (196-G/F-77, college: Maryland) banked 20 points. Sebastian Ginobili (190-G-72, agency: Interperformances) and Andres Pelussi (198-F-77) added 15 points each in the win. Quimsa needed overtime to prevail against Sionista in the Liga Sudamericana final stage. The Santiago del Estero team will have one more step to make to clinch the crown. Led by Camargo Dionisio Gomez (203-F-80, college: Arkansas) the hosts surged in front for a 44:41 lead at halftime. Quimsa stayed in charge in the third quarter. They built a 4-point lead into the fourth frame but could not secure it. Sionista erased the deficit and took a 76:74 lead in the final minute of the encounter. Anibal Marin stepped up with a rescue basket for Quimsa to send the game into overtime. Julio Mazzaro (190-G-79) came up with some important points in the extra period as Quimsa rallied to the win. Camargo Dionisio Gomez finished with 18 points and 10 boards for Quimsa. Julio Mazzaro added 16 points, while Jonathan Treise (182-G-85) had 14 in the victory.
