The National Basketball Federation had issued a project Schedulle for the upcoming 2009 Colombian Basketball Federation Cup, the schedulle is projected to start on August 21 including nine teams, the teams included are: one team from each of the following leagues: Bogot, Valle, Antioquia, Norte, Santander, Bolivar, San Andres, Cundinamarca and Boyaca, but at this time just Bogot, Antioquia, Santander, Bolivar and San Andrs are 100% confirmed [read more]
The National Basketball Federation had issued a project Schedulle for the upcoming 2009 Colombian Basketball Federation Cup, the schedulle is projected to start on August 21 including nine teams, the teams included are: one team from each of the following leagues: Bogot, Valle, Antioquia, Norte, Santander, Bolivar, San Andres, Cundinamarca and Boyaca, but at this time just Bogot, Antioquia, Santander, Bolivar and San Andrs are 100% confirmed. The teams are asking to limit the Federation Cup just to eight teams, because the ninth team will cause high overcost, Cundinamarca looks to be the team excluded specially beacuse finished the 2008 in the last place arriving to its last game in Cucuta just with 6 players.

Victor Lopez and Francisco Castro from Magdalena the National U-17 Champions and Edwin Cortes from Valle were the support of the team Castro and Corts had good performances in the boards, buts specially Castro with his 12,5 rebounds per game includig 23 rebounds against Paraguay and 17 against Ecuador, Castro also had 9,8 points per game in juts 24 minutes per game. Edwin Cortes numbers of 10 rebounds per game and 12 points per game give a good look to his skills, was maybe the most solid player with good numbers in all the games. Victor Lopez was the heart of the Colombias ofense in the first three games his 31 pts againts Brazil make all the defenses focused on him, and his numbers in the following games droped but he proves himself to be an elite three point shooter, Lopez ended with 13,7 points per game, 3 rebounds, 39% beyond the arc, 42% from the field and 73% from the free throws. Colombia U17 celebrated the fifth spot at the South American Championship in Uruguay. They toppled Ecuador in the final day of the tournament to gain the position. Ecuador who completed the preliminary round winless managed to come up with quite surprising victory over Chile in the 5th-8th place qualifying games. They also lived up to the challenge against Colombia but fell just short at the end. The teams kept it close early in the game as Colombia had a one-point lead into the second frame. Ecuador stayed within striking distance and Colombia still led by a slender 1 points at the interval. Ecuador stepped on the gas after the major break. They outgunned Colombia to accumulate a 3-point cushion heading into the final period. But Victor Lopez (-93) gave a needed spark for Colombia in the fourth stanza as they eked out an exhausting victory at the end. Victor Lopez finished with 18 points and 6 boards to pace Colombia. Francisco Castro (-92) added 15 points and 21 boards in the win. Diego Chachapollas (-92) fired 13 points for Ecuador. Martin Obando (-92) and Ricardo Icaza (-92) had 10 points apiece in the loss. Colombia boasted of a huge dominance on the glass 57:41 which proved decisive in this one.
