Instituto takes Super 20 - Oct 30, 2021

With a constant rhythm during the 40 minutes, the team of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba is consecrated champion of the Super 20 Tournament , by beating in the final to Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia 80 x 66 in a game played at the Stadium Angel Sandrin in Alto Cordoba, Cordoba.
The team led by Lucas Victoriano showed on the court, the claw and energy that since the pre-season training had designed the coach, and that combining style with the depth of the bench gave him the elements to win the 1st tournament of the 2021 season22 of the competition. On the side of Gimnasio, Martin Villagran bet to play a little more distributed , counting that several of his pieces came from a severe fatigue taking into account the injuries that affected them during the tournament.
A game that started out very much fought where the offensive alternatives for each side were shared. The players who started out for Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba were: Chiarini, Whelan , Romano , Cuello and Gallizi. On the visit side Mencia, Elliot, Orresta, Vega and Acuna.
The 1st quarter was heavily contested until 3:11 left the local draw took 17 x 11 difference which caused Villagran to ask for time out. At the end of the 1st quarter he finished 24-19.
The 2nd quarter , Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia look for different proposals, but the constant were the failures in field shots, where they went from an excellent 8 of 16, to 3 of 12 in the 2nd; all thanks to the defensive order of Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba, counting on Romano's great offensive advances that totaled at the close of the 1st time 9 points with a triple and 4 rebounds; as well as the defensive delivery of Gallizi who had recorded up to that point 4 points with 5 rebounds, but helping a lot in the defensive zone. Partial cut from the first half 41 to 29 in favor of the home team.
The second half was a round trip and although it was very even, that parity did not favor Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia that carried the disadvantage of the 1st time. While the Romano-Gallizi connection worked to its fullest, the second opportunities were reduced in the failures of the Gymnastics team. Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba became more solid and I never let the advantage fall below 7 points in most of the 2nd time passages.
The end was a faithful reflection of a team that could be managed and effective for almost the entire game. A Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba that showed their great resources to become champion of the Super 20 tournament, and take a decisive step in their aspirations to achieve the title of the Liga Nacional that will begin this week. Final score 80 for 66.
The Most Valuable of the Final was Nicolas Romano (200-G-87), who scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and 3 assists, supported by Martin Cuello (193-SG-93) with 12 units and Tayavek Gallizzi (206-F/C-93)i with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
For Gimnasia y Esgrima Comodoro Rivadavia Marcus Elliott (196-G-84, college: Louisiana Tech) excelled with 19 goals and 5 rebounds ,Sebastian Vega (200-SF-88) with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
