Soles Head Coach Dan Tacheny had Kevin Kruger (186-G-83, college: UNLV) at the point, Anthony Pedroza (191-G-79, agency: Edge Sports, college: Oregon) at the 2 guard, Hector Hernandez (206-F-85, college: Fresno St.) in the position of shooter in his pick and roll offense, Terrance Thomas (198-F-80, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Baylor) playing alot of 2 man game and Omar Lopez (203-C-80, college: Cal.Baptist) at opposite block. The game was played at high speed, the playmaking and 3 point shooting of Kruger, more scoring from Pedroza and the Soles got ahead 32-20 in the first quarter. The second quarter Tacheny made changes that allowed the travel team to close on the scoreboard but got back to his rotation in the final minutes of the second, closing with a difference of 16 as Terrance Thomas hit a prayer from half court, the crowd went crazy. In the second half Soles continued to run their offense and get Thomas and Lopez points in the paint, but the JM group was playing hard and was led by Mike Gavaldon (197-F-80, college: Cal.St.-Los Angeles) who had 17 as they closed the gap, the third quarter ended 83-76. In the end the Soles just had too much size for the travel team winning 112-97.

Toluca, Mexico - Volcanes de Toluca of the LNBP has come to an agreement with Latin imports Antoine Broxsie (209-F-79, college: Oklahoma St.) and Carl Thomas (203-F-76, college: Charleston). Broxsie had played for 3 seasons in the league as an American but recently finished the paperwork needed for his Dominican Passport. Broxsie will cover the rim for Coach Giovanni Rivera, having averages of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and over 3 blocks per game previously in the LNBP. Broxsie won the Defensive Player of the Year award in Japan last season, leading the league in blocked shots, and 2nd in rebounds. He has a very complete face up game from 20 as well as having developed a couple go to moves in the paint in the last few seasons playing in the Middle East and Japan, always playing above the rim on both ends of the court. Carl Thomas plays on the Virgin Islands National Team and calls Tampa, Florida home in the off season. A champion in the top league in Japan, Thomas is a special type of player at 6'8 that has NBA range on his jumper. Capable of excelling at the 2, 3, and 4 positions for a team because of his size and abilities are rare atributes in a player. As an expansion team it's always tough to compete against the more established franchises, but the acquisition of these 2 key players as Latins really gives the team the flexibility it needs to surround those guys with the top 'extranjeros' foreigners and mexican players they need to win.
